  • If you told me I would have almost three thousand friends two years ago, I would have thought you were mad. I have noticed a snowball effect. Once you start building a lot of friends, people seem to jump on the bandwagon.

  • Oh Janis!!! I wish I knew how to attract ‘fans’ to my Facebook Page. But I really would prefer to attract readers and buyers to my website to purchase my book!

I now have 1579 friends on my facebook homepage, 286 on my fan page, and a few on my new pages I put up for each of my four books. I haven’t made it anywhere near 5,000 yet, but maybe someday…
There’s a couple things you can do to get more friends on facebook. One is to comment and like others’ posts. It takes almost no time at all and keeps your name in front of people. Also sharing posts that you like with your current friends is a good idea. About once a month I check for new authors and friend them. They almost never decline my requests. A short personal comment can mean all the difference. Joining groups is another way to put yourself out there. Another very important way to get those friends is to completely fill out your profile. And don’t be afraid to be quirky in talking about yourself. Let it all hang out! Put up photos of yourself and even just pictures of things you like that you’ve found around the net. Since I write thrillers, I have a few really weird scary pictures on my profile. I also change my main profile pic from time to time. Right now I have a really crazy one up there!
As a result of whatever I’ve done I get at least one or two friend requests per day. This adds up. I also hit the buttons of the people suggested to me on the right hand side of the page. The more friends you have the more will be suggested to you.
But if you have a lot of friends be ready to be deluged with good wishes on your birthday like I was the other day! I got almost 300 Happy Birthdays!
    I hope this helps. 🙂

    Warm Regards,
    Julie Achterhoff
